(Kingston, Jamaica, Blueprint Publicity & Promotions) – After performing at the opening ceremony for one of the most anticipated events in high school history, the annual ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys & Girls Athletic Championships earlier this week at the (Jamaican) National Stadium, Dancehall artiste Chino left the island yesterday (Friday) for New York.

Chino’s New York performances this weekend will also be geared toward promoting his upcoming US album. He says, “I’ll be there getting the ground work started, doing some performances and interviews and then head back home to continue recording and doing shows. There’s so much to tie up with the albums which are coming out this summer in the US and another for the Japan market. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my music, so doing it well is where my head-space is at right now.”

The award-winning artiste whose name is Daniel McGregor, is known for his hits, Pon Yuh Head, From Mawnin’, Protected, Ruff It Up and more, has also been making considerable strides in the entertainment industry with a slew of hits and appearances both locally and internationally. His latest achievement was a nomination in the category “Most Improved Entertainer” at this year’s 29th International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) which is scheduled to take place on May 2, 2010 at the York College Performing Arts Center in New York. The singjay has also accrued a number of local award and is poised for much more. His awards include: “Breakthrough Artiste of the Year” at the EME’s and “Young, Hot and Hype Male of the year” at the annual Youth View Award show. The International Reggae and World Music Awards show. Chino returns to the island on Tuesday.
