Expect great things from Orane “DJ Pappizzle” Levy
Levy, 25, is a disc jock from Kingston Gardens, one of the many inner-city communities in the Corporate Area.
Armed with a passion for music and a family to care for, Levy has been steadily growing in his field and is set to make an impact on the music fraternity
“I have been a disc jock for quite some time now, and while my name is not out there as much as I would want it to be, I am not in any rush, as I am more focused on getting the job done, rather than bask in the ambiance of success,” Levy said.
Levy, more popularly known as DJ Pappizzle, is one of the talented house deejays who occupy the turntables at the Quad nightclub in New Kingston.
Laid-back Dj
The laid-back DJ claims that after graduating from high school he wanted to do sports, but recognized his natural talent was with electronics.
“After graduating from Kingston College I wanted to go into sports, because that was my first love. It was at this point I recognised the knack I had for electronics; I was fascinated with it. I spent many hours on the computer mastering the art of mixing,” he said.
Getting involved in the profession did not come easy, as many doubted him. However, there was at least one person who believed in him, to whom he gives credit.
“Freddie James, who at the time was at Asylum, noticed my talent and gave me the motivation that I needed to carry on the torch,” he said.
He added, “Alrick and Boyd, my bosses at the Quad, taught me a lot about the business and played an integral role in the pursuit to master my craft.”
DJ Pappizzle, who has mostly been spinning out in the clubs, wishes to no longer stay ‘in the box’, so to speak, and is now being booked to play at a host of parties and socials on the events calendar.
“I have a few billed events coming up in December, including ‘Emotized’, ‘Candy’ and ‘Wasted’, to name a few. A couple weeks ago I was at Tahiti in Portmore,” Pappizzle said.
When off the job, the Dj takes on his father-figure role and enjoys spending quality time with his three year-old son Trystan.
