Queen Ifrica has proven that she is indeed a musical ‘lioness on the rise’ as she has scored time and time again with hard-hitting social commentary. Known for popular numbers such as Daddy and Below The Waist.

The album since its release has been doing very well and she should not be ruled out to take this award.

Although Etana recently released her new album Free Expression, she has been a strong force on the music scene. Several tracks from the album — Free, August Town and Mockingbird — have already topped the charts in Jamaica and reggae charts internationally.

Dubbed by many music pundits as the queen of dancehall soul, Cherine Anderson in just a few years has become one of Jamaica’s leading young female singer/songwriters and performers.

Last year she made her presence felt on the scene with singles such as Talk If You Talking, Shine On Jamaica and Don’t Stop.

Singer Alaine has had a very busy season last year dominating with songs such as Your Eyes Only, Bring and the song which got her a lot of buzz — propelled no doubt by great video — You Are Me.

Tami Chynn has been enjoying a wonderful season, bolstered by the collaboration with Tifa, Certified Diva.

Rounding out the nominees in the vocalist of the year category is Phyllisia better known for her combination song with Jah Cure Unconditional Love.
