(Kingston, Jamaica) In an age when the local entertainment fraternity is dominated by mostly male artists and professionals who has built a career on representating recording artists in areas such as Management, Public Relations, Bookings and Publishing, Elvey Johnson better Known as Empress Christine is looking to create the well need balance as one of only a handful of female contenders.
Christine as she is often called by her friends and clients wears many hats in the industry. She is widely known as the Promoter of “Unity In The Hills” an annual stage show staged in Linstead, St. Catherine and when she’s not putting on shows she is busy managing her artist Michael Fabulous an upcoming reggae singer and Dance Unit M.O.B who are known for their choreography in music videos for Elephant Man, Cecile and Beenie Man.
Despite the recent success of her business ventures Christine recalls her humble beginnings during the late 1980’s when she worked as a Secretary / Booking Agent at New Name Muzic Studio. In 1993 she began working with reggae superstars Tanya Stephens, Spragga Benz and Frisco Kid at Vertical Music Studio and would later make an attempt to stage her first stage show in 1995. Unfortunately the attempt was unsuccessful and it would take Christine some 13 years before her dream of being an accomplished promoter would come through with the start of “Unity in The Hill” that enjoyed its 2nd official staging in 2009.
Now embarking on building her reputation in the music industry Empress Christine is confident all her hard work will some day pay off.
