Dancehall’s ace female deejay, Marion ‘Lady Saw’ Hall, recently apologised to her local fans for her absence this year from the premier reggae festival, Sumfest. Saw will be taking the summer to explore Europe, where she will be on a month-long promotional tour.
“We will be hitting the ground running,” she said. “It will be three and a half weeks of promotion for a project I am working on, and I am really looking forward to it,” she said.
Saw left the island yesterday and will have a short breather before her first show kicks off on July 3 in Denmark. Her hectic first week schedule includes performances at some major reggae concerts including the Roskilde Festival in Kolnon, Germany, on July 4; July 5 will see her in France at the Eurockennes Festival, then July 6 in Amsterdam, Holland at Two Sevens Splash. Come July 8, she will be in Frankfurt, then the tour moves to Zurich, Switzerland for another event, Moods and then on to Italy for the Rototom Festival, which will have a Dancehall Night for the first time in its history.
Saw will also perform in Spain, where she did a show earlier this year, return to France for Toulouse Salle le Ramier, move on to Solvakia for the Trencin Pohoda Festival with a return to Switzerland, on July 19, after which she moves on to Belgium on July 20 for the Dour Festival.
The deejay, who is noted for representing well on her overseas engagements, is busy working on an album which will be her first since her release from her VP Records contract.
“The contract with VP expired and we decided not to resign. We are currently working on various projects and this new album is one of them. It is fresh and exciting and all the top producers will be making an appearance. I will also be doing some of the production myself,” she mentioned.
Lady Saw recently appeared on one of Hype TV’s most popular programmes, Up & Live, where she had a premier of her new video Belvedere Heights. She lauded the work put into the video by director Wayne Wade, who also did the video for another of her singles, Chat To Mi Back.
Saw also holds a space on the Hype TV Top 20 singles chart, with the provocative single Sunday To Sunday on the Big Ship label, which sits at the #14 position after five weeks on chart.
