Ludacris Censors Himself During Concert For Best Buy Employees

Hip-Hop superstar Ludacris recently teamed up with major retailer Best Buy to honor a select group of employees by throwing a private, profanity-free, show in Miami, Florida.

According to the Miami Herald, the ATLien rapper gave the company’s outstanding workers from across the country a special 45-minute performance at the Fillmore Miami Beach last Friday (October 17). Admitting that the event was also to promote his upcoming album Theater of the Mind, Luda justified his intention of targeting retail workers rather than consumers.

“We do shows for a lot of companies sometimes,” he told Herald. “We want to make sure we show appreciation to the people that work inside the stores and get people excited about the album. So this is not only for the fans, but for those who support the whole movement of getting records out. Best Buy is the number one retailer as far as people buying actual compact discs instead of online.”

Applying self-censorship while rhyming at the private event, the platinum-selling rapper also described his ability to appeal to the wide variety of workers coming from across the nation.

“We have a very, very vast, wide audience,” Luda added. “The good thing about my catalog of music is I can change the show up, because I have songs that cater to a lot of different people. It’s definitely cool.”

Joined on stage by fellow rhyme slinger Lil’ Fate and DJ JC, Luda also reminded fans to go see his new film Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg, which debuted at No. 1 over the weekend.

“I’m a black man in a movie, and I don’t die,” he said.

Theater of the Mind is currently scheduled to hit retail stores Tuesday, November 25 on Def Jam.
