Promoter sexually abused boy?

Popular party promoter, Roderick Reid, is now behind bars after he was accused of molesting a boy he was supervising.

Reid, known for promoting parties such as Yesterday and Mello Vibes, was arrested and charged on Tuesday by detectives from the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) in Kingston.

He is booked to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Head of CISOCA, Deputy Superintendent Herfa Beckford, confirmed to that Reid is now being held at the Half-Way Tree lock-up and is facing charges of indecent assault, gross indecency and adminis-tering alcohol with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Reports are that the com-plainant was assaulted some time in 2007, after which a report was made. The promoter was sub-sequently arrested.

Further reports are that Reid, who was a probation officer at the time of the alleged incident, was suspended from duty pending the outcome of the investigations.

He has tendered his resignation since then, the CISOCA confirmed.

Speaking about her zero-tolerance approach to sexually related offences, DSP Beckford said, “No one is excluded from being arrested, providing that a report is made and proper investigations are done.”
