Kingston, Jamaica – The many shades of QQ is something Dancehall fans will have to get used to for 2010. The artiste, whose correct name is Kareem Dawkins said R&B is where his heart is at these days.
“I was always doing Dancehall, but after I did an R&B track called Everything Has Changed, and after it was released, it did very well across the Caribbean and in Canada, so my friends were saying I should continue doing R&B and some different styles of music because the sound really fit me; so that and more dancing songs will be my main focus,” said QQ.
QQ says his next single is a DJ Bambino production called Wine Your Waist and “that will be a mixture of be Hip Hop and Dancehall. It’s going to be a really hot track.”
That’s not the only “hot” thing QQ has in store for his fans. He says the upcoming Coke Zero Presents: Sean Kingston In Concert to be staged at the LIME Golf Academy next week Saturday night, will be a treat for fans.
“People are used to seeing one side of QQ, and I want to show all the sides and talents of QQ. I plan to give a great performance and leave the venue with a buzz; something that was off the hook.”
On the flip side, many will recall the custody battle surrounding the 15-year-old being played out in the media. QQ openly said, “Things are great at home now. (Tuesday was) daddy’s birthday, so we are all here just chilling. Family is good now and both my mom and dad have a great relationship.”
He continued: “At the time when I was no longer living with my father and went somewhere else, I was the one who asked to be moved, because the court case and the attention started to affect me, so I asked to let me live elsewhere; but I’ve always been in the care of my father.”
Now that things have settled down, the 4th form student at the Calabar High School plans to have music and education as his two main focuses.
“I will always be in music but education can never be enough, so I have plans to go to college and after focus on music but also be an entrepreneur…As far as a debut album goes, I don’t wanna say anytime soon because I have been saying that for three years now, (laughing), but people can definitely look out for a lot more hot tracks and concerts like the upcoming Sean Kingston concert.”
