Rapper Eve added to Shaggy & Friends line-up

Female rapper Eve is the latest act to be added to the Shaggy and Friends Benefit Concert line-up.

After changing the date from December 30 to January 7, Ne-Yo was one of the previously confirmed artistes who could no longer perform on the show. However, replacement is coming in the form of Eve, who has had hits like Who’s That Girl, Tambourine and Let Me Blow Ya Mind.

Solid Agency’s Sharon Burke, one of the organisers for the Shaggy and Friends Benefit Concert, said Eve was confirmed for the show on the weekend.

“We confirmed her on the weekend. She was in London and we called her up and she immediately said yes,” Burke told THE STAR.

“It wasn’t difficult at all, she is a friend of both Shaggy and myself and she loves children. She was very sensitive towards the cause and she loves Jamaica. Eve is a strong female in the business and she has always held her own,” she added.

Eve will be joining acts like Shaggy, Lauryn Hill, Maxi Priest, Half Pint, Cocoa Tea, Deneice Williams, I-Octane, Romain Virgo, Assassin AKA Agent Sasco, Wayne Marshall, Tami Chynn, Gyptian and Mr Vegas.

The concert that is being held to raise funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children will be held at Jamaica House, St Andrew, on January 7.

To date the Shaggy & Friends Make A Difference Foundation has raised a total of $57 million (US$650,000). The foundation covered the costs for an overall audit to be done on all medical equipment (working or otherwise) at the Bustamante Hospital (June-July, 2011). In addition, they purchased two new fully equipped dental chairs for the dental unit at the hospital as the unit was forced to close due to the non-functional dental chairs. The chairs were delivered and installed earlier this year.

Tickets for the event will cost $25,000 for platinum, $10,000 for gold and $5,000 for silver.
