      KINGSTON, Jamaica – The nominations in the 20th staging of the UK’s MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) were announced earlier today.

      The nominees in the Best Reggae Act category are singers OMI and Chronixx, singjay Protoje and deejays Stylo G and Popcaan.

      This is the first nomination for both OMI and Protoje.

      Protoje earlier this year released the album Ancient Future which topped the Billboard Reggae album chart in the US.

      Cheerleader the smash hit from OMI topped several charts globally including the UK Top 40 and the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

      This is the second nomination for Chronixx and London based Stylo G.

      Stylo G won the award last year. He is currently riding the UK pop chart with the single My Number 1 (Love Me, Love Me, Love Me) featuring Gyptian.

      This is the fourth nomination for Popcaan.

      The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) was established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. It is held annually and recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.

      This year’s event takes place on November 4 at the Leeds’ First Direct Arena.

      The duo Krept and Konan which comprises Casyo Johnson and Karl Wilson (son of the now deceased Jamaican singer Delroy Wilson) lead the pack with four nominations.
