Rain and then a soggy outfield prevented any play on the fourth day in the second Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on Sunday.

Persistent drizzle throughout the day, which left the field near the boundary soggy resulted in umpires Simon Fry and Rod Tucker calling off play midway between what would have been lunch and tea.

West Indies will resume on Monday’s final day on 20 for one, needing another 224 runs to win the match, with nine second innings wickets remaining.

Play will start early to make up for some of the time that was lost.

Sri Lanka won the first of the two Test series in Galle inside four days by an innings and six runs.
