Kingston, Jamaica – There was an explosion of praise at Sunday night’s Denbigh Gospel Extravaganza in Clarendon.

The concert which was staged during the popular three-day Denbigh Agricultural Festival at the Denbigh Agricultural Showgrounds, not only drew a massive crowd of worshipers but also had a segment which catered to everyone. However, it was undeniably Carlene Davis’ ministry that brought the massive crowd to tears.

Davis began her segment with the upbeat, This Island Needs Jesus; One Hand Full of Salt; Wash Off Sins and Behold He Comes. She then followed up with a song dedicated to two young men, Dayne Lawson and D’Angelo Young who died last Wednesday and segued into a medley of popular gospel songs. During Davis’ final segment shouts of hallelujah could be heard across the audience while tears overwhelmed others.

Host for the evening, Alysia Moulton-White seemed touched by the night’s ministry and shared her testimony with the teary audience. Immediately after, several patrons gave their contact information to several church members in the audience to keep in touch and offer encouragement and prayer.

Omari

Singer, Omari, who performed prior to Davis had been a great precursor. His youthful segment “spoke life over Denbigh and Clarendon” and he went on to minister with crowd favourites including Why, Jehovah Guide Me,Friend Till The End and Help.

Jabez, who performed earlier that night was also a crowd favourite especially with the hit, Drinking From My Saucer and others.

Also leaving the crowd in a celebratory praise-filled mood were: The Melodians, Septimus and the final two ministers of the night, Kevin Downswell and Goddy Goddy aka the Ghetto Priest.

Tommy Cowan, Head of Glory Music, producers of the concert said, “I think the concert achieved its purpose – that of ministering to persons who want to have a relationship with the Lord and encouraging those who already have a relationship with Him, to continue to do so.”

“…This is what concerts like Denbigh Gospel Extravaganza and Best Dressed Fun In The Son are about – ministry through music for the entire family, but always in a fun and uplifting way. We want to thank everyone who came out to part-take in the night’s proceedings and we hope they were blessed; and of course our sponsors Hi-Pro, Hi-Pro Feeds, Ace Supercentre and Best Dressed Chicken who believe wholeheartedly in family entertainment,” he said.
