Having pledged their support to the Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation last December at a media launch on the grounds of the Bustamante Children’s Hospital Telecommunication Giants LIME Jamaica, Digicel and FLOW are all excited to be apart of the Shaggy & Friends Charity Concert slated for this weekend on the Lawns Of Jamaica House.
The three company’s will this year sponsor the event which over a two year period raised a total of J$57,000,000 to purchase life saving equipment for the Bustamante Children’s Hospital. According to Senior Sponsorships Manager at Digicel Shelley-Ann Curran, “Digicel is honoured to join the Shaggy Foundation to support the Bustamante Hospital for Children at this time and will continue to work towards improving the health, educational opportunities and welfare of Jamaican children through the Digicel Foundation”.
As a result of their sponsorship persons wishing to make donations to the Foundation may now do so by simply texting 444 4248 from any mobile device at a cost of J$50 per text.
Currently offering persons who are unable to make it to the Concert a unique once in a lifetime opportunity, LIME Jamaica is also contributing in a big way to this years staging. In a statement from Stephen Price, Head of Marketing at LIME Jamaica the company has put plans in place to raise even more proceeds from the show. “In addition to partnering with Shaggy, we have also created opportunities for our customers and Jamaicans in the diaspora to participate and contribute to the effort. As such, we will be providing a live broadcast of the concert on LIME Mobile TV and via pay per view online from which we will donate proceeds”.
Known for their WATCH.TALK.CLICK slogan FLOW will this year power the Shaggy & Friends concert through the use of technology. Denise Williams Director – Corporate & Government Affairs at FLOW lamented that FLOW will this year provide superior internet access at the concert along with increased exposure through its FLOW TV Channels. “We see this as a very important partnership and we remain committed to doing our part to ensuring that the Bustamante Children’s Hospital is able to provide the highest level of care for Jamaica’s children, the most vulnerable of our society and the future of our country”.
This years mega lineup of artists includes Grammy award winning vocalist Lauryn Hill, EVE, Deniece Williams, Gyptian, Mr. Vegas, I Octane, Wayne Marshall, Cocoa Tea, Tami Chynn, Half Pint, Maxi Priest, Assassin a.k.a Agent Sasco, Romain Virgo and the diamond selling reggae superstar himself Shaggy.
