Assassin will be relaunching ‘Girlz Gone Wild Tuesdays’ tonight at Weekenz on Constant Spring Road in an effort to revamp the weekly party.
Originally launched on May 6, Assassin’s ‘Girlz Gone Wild’ was met with a tepid reaction from patrons, who often show up minutes after 1 a.m with a 2 a.m lock-off time in effect.
While the dance has been continuing weekly, the buzz surrounding the dance is lacking. When THE STAR spoke with Assassin, he explained why the re-launch of the dance was necessary.
“It started off good and then things kinda slowed down, I guess we didn’t really continue with the promotion. After the launch, people kept coming to me with suggestions. I’ve been sorting through the suggestions to make the dance more suited for patrons,” Assassin said.
Re-launch
According to Assassin, there are also new sponsors for the event, including Monster Energy Drink and Magnum and the relaunch is also aimed at acknowledging their support.
Hosted by Miss Kitty and in an effort to get patrons to come out earlier, women are free all night, while men are free before midnight.
There will also be giveaways including plasma TVs, cellphones and free Hennessy, all before, midnight.
Guest performances by Serani, Erup, Elephant Man, Mavado and newcomer Bragga will be among those to take the stage before midnight.
Dancing competitions
“We have a lot of ideas, we want to do a themed version every last Tuesday in the month. We have the dancing competitions, wet T-shirt contests and we want to try a mud-wrestling contest. The theme for the relaunch is ‘Pimps and Hoes.’ The vibe is dere in di streets and I hope the people come out for the dress code and ting,” Assassin said.
The weekly dance is the artiste’s first stint as a promoter and he tries to be there for the event every Tuesday, as long as he is in the island.
According to Assassin, he has learnt a lot from being a promoter so far, but he says “it’s challenging, you caan tek anything for granted. Yuh haffi mek sure it’s a continued effort where the promoter is concerned.”
