Spanish Town-based dancehall artiste Checkdhat has been steadily rising in popularity as his break-out single entitled “3 Points” opened many doors and increased his popularity in 2021. The singjay says he is in work mode for 2022 and has since released two new music videos to great reviews. The singjay says 2022 is his year.
“Music is a building process and so far things have been going great in that regard as my brand is growing on all platforms and everywhere I go these days people know my name and face which is very encouraging as 2021 I put in a lot of work towards the end of the year. I plan to build on that momentum and secure my space at the top in 2022” stated Checkdhat.
The entrepreneur, artiste and producer who is a former Jamaica College graduate says he skillfully navigated the harsh streets of Spanish Town St. Catherine as a child says music has always been both his passion and saving grace. The artiste who started doing music as a mental escape from the day-to-day life struggles says he is also investing in himself by forming his own record label and plans to produce and sign other artistes when the time is right.
“I just want the industry to know that I am ready and I am here to do great music. Jus look out nah do too much chattingz” Stated Checkdhat.
Currently, Checkdhat has collaborations out with the likes of Chronic Law, Shakstar and Kapella Don as well as buzzing singles such as “3 Points” and ‘Be Like We”. The artiste is also released music videos for his self-produced singles entitled “Great Man” and “Chap Lawd” on his Well Ruff Entertainment label.
