Usain Bolt won his first 100-meter race of 2014 on Sunday in 10.06 seconds, but the six-time Olympic gold medalist said he was “sluggish” after the race.

The 27-year-old Jamaican easily beat Britain’s Mark Lewis-Francis, Brazil’s Jefferson Liberato Lucindo and America’s Wallace Spearmon in the race that was on a track at a beach in Rio de Janeiro.

Bolt, who holds the world record in the 100 and 200 meters, said his time was compromised by “a poor start,” and that he expects to do better “in a couple of races.”
