      The incumbent’s responsibility is to ensure the accurate recording of transactions, manage the staff members of the department and provide accurate and timely reporting of information to internal and external customers. The Manager will execute internal and external analysis and reporting for certain business units.

      FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
      ▪ Direct and monitor the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
      according to stipulated guidelines for submission to the board, Jamaica Stock Exchange, Senior management, and Head Office.
      ▪ Approve journal entries and ensure that all transactions are recorded, and general ledger is updated and maintained monthly.
      ▪ Review bank reconciliations and suspense/clearing account analysis.
      ▪ Perform review of subledger recon for products including investments, repurchase agreement, loans, and equity.
      ▪ Ensure timely and accurate submission of all statutory and regulatory requirements,
      including the preparation and submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
      ▪ Ensure the timely filing and payment of all tax returns including GCT, Payroll taxes,
      Asset tax, Income tax and Withholding tax.
      ▪ Assist with the annual budgeting exercise.
      ▪ Assist with timely completion of internal and external audits.
      ▪ Review and post Accounts Payable invoices.
      ▪ Communicate with internal stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss operational issues, key metrics.
      ▪ Recommend changes in policies, procedures, and processes to minimize risk and improve efficiency of finance unit.
      ▪ Coach, mentor and evaluate staff members

      QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
      ▪ Bachelor’s in Accounting and/or Financial Management
      ▪ Chartered Accountant or two sittings or less to completion of ACCA /CPA
      ▪ At least two (2) years working or auditing experience in the financial services
      industry, preferable in pension funds, unit trust or pooled fund accounting

      SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
      ▪ Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP, and preparation of Financial Reports
      ▪ Knowledge of pension funds, unit trust or pooled fund administration, legislation and regulations would be an asset.
      ▪ Knowledge of investment products and financial reports.
      ▪ Meticulous and detailed oriented
      ▪ Ability to work on own initiative and organize output to meet set standards and tight deadlines
      ▪ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
      ▪ Excellent time management and communication skills (oral & written)
      ▪ Excellent client relationship and interpersonal skills
      ▪ Computer Applications e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

      PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
      ▪ Periodic reporting must be completed accurately and on a timely basis
      ▪ Accurate and timely maintenance of data and procedures that support the various processes
      ▪ Demonstrated improvement of processes
      ▪ Effective maintenance of relationships with key internal partners
      ▪ Thoughtful execution of duties with continuous examination and eventually
      demonstrated understanding of the implication of reporting outputs
      ▪ Continuous engagement in professional development and training as required
      ▪ Maintain a strict code of confidentiality and adhere to all relevant compliance and
      ethical standards with all matters arising from employment at BARITA.
