DMX In Miami Hospital, Arrest Warrant Still Pending

DMX’s Phoenix lawyer revealed yesterday (August 13) that the embattled rapper is currently in a Miami hospital.

On (August 11), a Phoenix judge issued an arrest warrant for DMX after he failed to appear in court for a hearing relating to drug possession charges. The judge also raised the rapper’s bond to $25,000.

Charles Kozelka, X’s lawyer, divulged to MTV News Wednesday that the warrant for his client’s arrest still stands despite the judge’s knowledge of the rapper’s hospitalization.

According to Kozelka, the judge refused to cancel the warrant because the court wasn’t notified sooner and this is was the second time DMX had failed to appear in court.

Kozelka refused to reveal why DMX was hospitalized and also refused to comment on reports that have surfaced claiming that the rapper is in a rehabilitation facility.

DMX’s substance abuse and legal issue are well documented. He has been arrested more than five times in the past four months on drug charges, identity theft charges and animal cruelty charges.

Kozelka said that he i s currently trying to get DMX back to Phoenix and having the arrest warrant canceled.

“We are in court again next week on other matters, and my hope is we can get the warrant resolved by then and get back on track,” Kozelka explained. “We have some things in the works to get the warrant taken care of. My hope is that we can resolve it without an arrest, but he’s been arrested at the airport before, so they obviously have an eye out for him, so I’m not sure.”
