Lil Wayne, T.I., Rihanna and Mariah Carey have all recently been announced as nominees at this year’s upcoming MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, airing this fall.
According to Billboard, all four performers will be competing in the best female and male video category. Careys “Touch My Body and Rihannas “Take a Bow will go up against Jordin Sparks “No Air, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and Britney Spears’ “Piece of Me.” Usher’s “Love in this Club” and Weezy’s “Lollipop” will go head to head with Flo Ridas “Low, Chris Browns “With You and T.I.s “No Matter What videos.
Winners will be chosen exclusively through fan voting via the awards show official website, vma.mtv.com. Fans can also vote by text messaging through Verizon Wireless.
Additional nominees will be announced as two new categories are released each week until the end of next month. This weeks choices are for best hip-hop and best pop video.
In typical MTV tradition, winners of each chosen category will be awarded the iconic Moon Man trophy.
Hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, the VMAs will air on Sunday, September 7 at 9 p.m. EST
