Lisa Hyper declares that she enjoys the perception that she is flying under the radar a little after a turbulent 2010 that saw her make unwanted headlines in a sordid sex photo scandal that rocked the dancehall world.
Now, a more focused and resolute Lisa Hyper is ready to lock the game down and shut the haters up.
“I realise that nuff ah the older artistes never got the chance to buss until they were much older so there is some amount of resentment, but they see that I am talented, and if the people in the business just give me a chance, and stop be bias, I can take dancehall to a higher level,” she said.
She has a number of new singles such as Lock Down the Place on a juggling riddim alongside Pamputtae and D’Angel for producer Danny Champagnie. Another single called Get Mine, also for Champagnie, is creating a big buzz on the Internet. She has also dropped another single dubbed No Gyal on the Tiptronic riddim for Arthur Wales’ Free Willy Production, and in February, a St Thomas-based producer will be releasing a song called Rocket Launcher on his Syndicate Productions label alongside artistes such as Bounty Killer, Pattex and Iyara. She is also working close with the Solid Agency in order to secure her bookings in the Caribbean and South America.
“The thing ah just get hyper, expect the unexpected like I always say,” she said.
Lisa Hyper performed at a pair of gigs in Canada at the end of January, and she has a show alongside Ryno in Belize on February 16, and in French Guiana on March 8.
