Martei Korley – You Don’t Know

Martei Korley’s cover version of Bob Andy’s “You Don’t Know”, a tale of alienation, suppression, perseverance and ultimately triumph in the face of adversity; which lyrically is as timeless and poignant today as when it was first released in 1971.

We had discussed a cover version in the fall of 2019, however, it wasn’t until the untimely passing of Mr. Andy that the project was revisited. Two days later the riddim found its way into my inbox in Jamaica. Yo Akim brought all the vintage gear out for this production and delivered a slightly uptempo version, which still more than tips a hat to the original.
