The sands, the seas and the stars at Wickie Wackie, Bull Bay will come alive on October 29, 2011 when we journey to the east to celebrate our Queens. Sheba Productions has launched its first event in association with Gully Bank Music. They call it – “Symphony of Love” and Sheba Productions and its founder Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith will use this event to pay respect to females struggling to find their place in the world and to pay homage to those who have paved the way for us to have a better quality life.
Symphony of Love will be a non-profit showcase of powerful Jamaican women who have made indelible marks on our culture. The event will begin late afternoon with a schedule of activities ranging from yoga by Yoga Angels to food & wine sampling. Arlene Passley of Aya Wear fashions will also showcase her beautiful afrocentric pieces. The evening will be punctuated with great performances by talented Jamaican women such as Lorna Bennett, Leontre, Jah9, Sherieta, Jah’Mila, Chanti – I, Hempress Sativa, Kai Wakeling, Rochelle Brown and more. Poets such as Damale Ife, Racquel Jones and Radha Ruiz will massage our ears with powerful words of righteousness and upliftment.
Specially invited guests Marcia Griffiths and Lady Saw will be awarded with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their outstanding contribution to Female Empowerment through Music. As Jamaican women, we all find their style to be iconic and we find encouragement in their music. We have great respect for their work and consider them to be a valuable part of Jamaica’s feminine influence.
There will be hourly shuttle beginning at 4pm and ending at 7pm. This will depart from 6 St. Andrew Park, Kingston 10.Food and Refreshment will be on sale.
