Flippa, who’s real name is Andrew Davis, was arrested in March 2010 after he was allegedly caught trying to enter the United States illegally from The Bahamas via a boat. He was released from the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, Philadelphia, in September and since then little has been heard from the ‘Flossing King’.
Speaking to THE STAR yesterday while in transit from Miami, Flippa said persons can expect to see more of him in the near future.
“Flippa get comfortable again, case ova, mi nah stress out, not like I was stressing to begin with,” he joked.
According to Flippa, he is currently working on getting back his travel documents. “I’m working on it now that the case is over. I shouldn’t get any problems. So, hopefully, you’ll see me in April.”
As to how he expects persons to react to him after such a long period away from Jamaica and his recent criminal case, he said, “Nutten nuh change wid me, Flippa is still Flippa so I’ll have to come to see. But from what I hear people still love me.”
Far Away
While in the United States, the deejay hasn’t been far away from the local entertainment scene, having gone to support deejay Buju Banton at his ‘Before the Dawn’ concert held in Miami. He said, “I’m just coming from the Buju show which was great. I’m really glad he got all the support he did. Even though mi never get to perform mi show mi love by buying a ticket and attending.”
In the meantime, he is also busy recording, having released Star Fi Star for TJ Records recently. In the song, Flippa is back to his old style, talking about who is flossing with fake cars from who has the real ones. Also coming from Flippa are singles like Every Ghetto Fi Free on the Santiago rhythm, Paparazzi for Boardhouse Records and Hypocrite for Vybz Express Production.
“Me still a do my ting, I have a show in Atlanta this weekend and one coming up in LA (Los Angeles),” he added.
