The Lime-sponsored URGE will be held at the Blaze Nightclub in Portmore, and according to Romaine ‘Luigi’ Brown from the Portmore Society, the event, which is the first edition, is not one to be missed. He told THE STAR recently, “We’re partnering with Lime, and anything associated with the Lime brand has to bring fun and energy and great memory. URGE is a fun-filled, high-energy event as you would expect from a Portmore Society event and our star -studded lineup – ZJ chrome, Coppershot, Chromatic, Bunco Hilltop and special guest Munga Honourebel.”

Formed in February of 2007, Portmore Society, a 10-member-strong group has been creating quite a stir, having played a part in the successful staging of ‘Golden League’ with Usain Bolt and ‘Baywatch’ among other small events in Kingston and Portmore. The group recently launched their record label and are looking to invest in more areas of the business, as they seek to set themselves as the bar for others to follow by not limiting themselves to just one area. Their first musical release will be the ‘Hot 15’ rhythm which features Munga Honourebel, Ward 21, Versatile, Ratigan, Wasp, Mad Rhyme, Bastik, Chris Martin and Dohlance.

Official Premiere

According to Brown, the rhythm will be premiered briefly on radio on Friday, with the official premiere at URGE on Saturday, and will then be made available to the public at the end of November. Brown said, “it’s an uptempo dancehall beat that has already gotten added exposure, there is a buzz surrounding it, so hopefully, it will get a lot of airplay.”

Next on the agenda of the Portmore Society Brown says is the ‘Golden League’, in association with Mosiah Muzik at the Quad in April of 2011, as well as more musical releases to come.
