Aidonia for Heineken River Sundays

Resurgent dancehall star Aidonia, who was notably absent from this year’s Sting stage show, has just returned from a series of shows in Europe and will start the year right at Heineken River Sundays on Sunday, January 2.

The event, which is held every first Sunday at Grossman River in Braes River, St Elizabeth, will also feature a stunt show put on by West Best Bikers and Rush Rydaz. Turntable maestro Richie Feelings will lead the musical charge on the ones and threes, while 2008 Heineken Green Synergy winner DJ Jigga will make his debut in St Elizabeth. The show will also feature appearances from sounds such as Mega Watt, Black Love and will be hosted by Danger Zone’s master of ceremonies Jigzy along with Fire Lice.

Aidonia will ring in the New Year at the monthly Heineken River Sundays. CeCile among entertainers to touch the stage at Heineken River Sundays.

Unification through music was what Delmar Drummond had in mind when he conceptualised this event almost a year ago. Since its first staging on Easter Sunday in 2010, patrons have enjoyed great music, good food and family in a laid-back, rustic setting. Though there is no charge, proceeds from the sale of food will benefit community organisations.

Save for a two-month hiatus in October and November, the monthly event has been held since April. January’s theme is ‘Biker and Bikini Fest’ and continues the trend of holding the event under unique and exciting themes such as Emancipation Party (August) and Retro Christmas (December).

According to Drummond who is CEO of Danger Zone Music Group, Aidonia was chosen to headline January’s event because of his infectious music: “Aidonia has been fast rising over the last year. He is an artiste who knows how to keep the crowd rocking and we know he will give St Elizabeth the Sting performance that never happened.”

Over the last seven months a slew of entertainers have touched the stage at Heineken River Sundays including Jah Cure, Ce’Cile, DJ Sunshine, Fantan Mojah, Miss Kitty, Khago, Razz and Biggy, as well as Ricky Trooper. This Sunday January 2, the party kicks off at 7:00 pm and will continue till 2 am. Patrons are asked to drink responsibly as Heineken is the drink of choice.
