The Bob Marley Museum will come alive on Friday, November 5 as the 80th anniversary of the coronation of H.I.M. Haile Selassie I is celebrated.
Although the actual coronation of Haile Selassie took place on November 2, 1930, promoter Dr. Michael Barnett said there was a consensus to have the event three days later because the calendar was packed.
“The Twelve Tribes of Israel were already holding their celebrations on the November 2 date, so as to not conflict we decided to have our event on the Friday,” Barnett said.
The show will also be held as a charity concert for the refurbishing of the Haile Selassie High School “which was a gift to Jamaica from H.I.M. Haile Selassie I in April 1966 when he visited the country,” Barnett expressed.
“The school is in dire need of funds to assist with further development of the school, and it is with this in mind that the Friends of The Haile Selassie High School are doing their part in assisting in this project,” Barnett continued.
It promises to be an exciting show with a wide array of cultural Reggae artistes; the likes of Junior Reid with Andrew and Wada Blood, Determine, Warrior King, Andrew Tosh, Mikey General, Fred Locks, The Artist M, Herzon, The Uprising Roots Band, The Twelve Tribes of Israel and many more. The show will also unveil a surprise vintage guest artiste.
Presold tickets for the coronation celebration this Friday, November 5 will be available at the Bob Marley Museum, at a price of $400. All net proceeds from this event will be donated to the Haile Selassie High School.
