Bounty Killer goes to church

“Church was a very nice experience”, says dancehall giant Bounty Killer.

About three weeks ago, the veteran artiste, born Rodney Price, went to christen his son at the Reverend Al Miller’s Fellowship Tabernacle, located off the Washington Boulevard in St Andrew.

What should have been a routine ceremony quickly turned out to be an inspiring venture for the veteran deejay, who is currently enjoying one of his best runs of form in music since he began in 1992.

“I went to christen my child and I just stayed back for the sermon,” Bounty Killer told THE STAR. The Alliance general also said he found it strange that people would want to mock and ridicule him for attending church when they should be giving encouragement.

“Si some people a laugh bout it and a mock it, before dem congratulate it and want to si it more. Well, we gonna go couple more Sundays when di time is available and see what they say, cause every day yuh deh ‘mongst these devils and vipers,” he said.

In September, Bounty Killer’s mother, Ivy ‘Miss Ivy’ Williams, said she would one day, love to see her son, widely recognised for his vast number of ‘gun anthem’ songs, turn over his life to Christ.

And according to Bounty Killer, his appearance in church, even though it was for his child’s asperse, brought happiness to both his mother and members of his family as they all hope he will continue.

“My mother is a Christian suh yuh know how dat guh. And ma family was very happy. My mother was very glad that I went to church. Dat betta dan givin ar thousands of dollars. I also went to check Rev Al Miller because he was even at Follow Di Arrow and at the launch,” he said.

“They (church elders) gave me some wine and said it was the blood of the Lord and I drank it. So it was all a very nice experience, and I want to do it again soon,” Bounty Killer said.
