Brick and Lace nominated for Urban Music Awards

Dynamic sister duo, Brick and Lace, has gained international recognition by being nominated for three awards at the seventh annual Urban Music Awards to be held in London on November 2. Organised and hosted by the Invincible Media Group, this stellar event has previous winners and attendees such as Sean Paul, Jay Z, Beenie Man, Shakira and other high-profile names in the industry.

Nominated for Best Duo or Group, Most Inspiring Act and Best R & B Act, Brick and Lace has the additional honour of being among those performing for the evening. The girls’ team states that the nominations are a hallmark event in their lives.

Category winners will be determined by votes, and Brick and Lace is welcoming the support of friends and fans, at home and abroad, to vote for them online at urbanmusicawards.net beginning October 10 through November 2.

Brick and Lace, through the success of their singles, Love is Wicked and Bad to Di Bone, was previously honoured at the inaugural staging of the Youth View Awards in 2007, when they captured four awards: Favourite Local Music Video, Favourite Group or Duo, Young, Hot and Hype Female (Duo) of the Year and Chart-Topping Song. In 2008 they were also named Best Dancehall Vocal Performance – Duo at the Reggae Academy Awards and Breakthrough Artiste of the Year at the Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards.

Having received this recognition from their home country, Brick and Lace went on to captivate the hearts of fans in Africa and across Europe where they tour regularly.

In expanding their performance territories this summer, the duo made first-time visits to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where fans turned out to see them sizzle up the already hot Middle East; Tunisia for the Carthage International Festival and Senegal where the ladies received “teranga”, the hallmark hospitality of this people who turned out in their numbers to show support for the Jamaican duo.

Now in rehearsals and full preparation mode to hit the stage at the UMAs on November 2, Brick and Lace is set to give of their best. They are not ones to disappoint their public, holding high the Jamaica brand wherever they go.
