The current dancehall wave is trending in the direction of Spanish Town with the latest buzzing artiste from that region being a witty and melodic new style deejay who goes by the name Checkdhat.
With a cluster of artistes currently dominating the musical space at including the likes of Govana, Skeng, Rose Don, Jahshii and others Checkdhat says he is ready to take his rightful place at the zenith of the industry.
“Right now a Spain have the road and the streets say a time for me to step out in a major way so me just a do the right ting. Musically I am solid and I believe now is the right time to showcase my talent to a wider audience and based on the initial feedback things look very promising as such I am just putting in the groundwork” Stated Checkdhat.
The former Jamaica College graduate who skillfully navigated the harsh streets of Spanish Town St. Catherine as a child says music has always been his passion and saving grace. The artiste who started doing music as a mental escape from the day-to-day life struggles says he is very happy to currently have a cluster of buzzing singles but says he remains well-grounded knowing that a lot of work needs to be done to grow his brand to a global audience.
“Me just a do good music and let the people decide what they like, I am keeping my process simple, me just a work smart and keep a small circle. The ladies a show me whole heap of love and the streets a embrace me so its a great feeling especially knowing that me have a bomb to drop known as 3Points” Stated Checkdhat.
Currently, Checkdhat has collaborations out with the likes of Chronic Law, Shakstar and Kapella Don as well as buzzing singles such as “Be Like We” and ‘Beware”. The artiste is also gearing up to release a self produced single and music video entitled 3Points on his Well Ruff Entertainment label.
