Spanish Town based dancehall artiste Checkdhat has been steadily rising in popularity as his break out single entitled 3 points continues to grow in popularity. The singjay says he is in work mode and has two new music video releases coming up the first of which is entitled, Greatman. The thought proving single was inspired by real life events according to the singjay who says he is working hard to become a music legend.
”This song basically talks about the journey of Checkdhat and things I went through to become the man I am today, learning how to differentiate the real from the fake energy and realizing my true potential. I know now that I am destined to be a great man and all the fight I got was just getting me prepared for what is to come” Stated Checkdhat.
The entrepreneur, artiste and producer who is a former Jamaica College graduate says he skillfully navigated the harsh streets of Spanish Town St. Catherine as a child says music has always been both his passion and saving grace. The artiste who started doing music as a mental escape from the day-to-day life struggles says he is also investing in himself by forming his own record label and plans to produce and sign other artistes when the time is right.
“The pieces of the puzzle are coming together perfectly as di streets a embrace di ting suh a just a matter of time and consistency on my part. Greatness is on the horizon and I do not mean the correctional facility” Stated Checkdhat.
Currently, Checkdhat has collaborations out with the likes of Chronic Law, Shakstar and Kapella Don as well as buzzing singles such as “3 Points” and ‘Be Like We”. The artiste is also gearing up to release a self-produced single and music video entitled “Great Man” on his Well Ruff Entertainment label.
