Chris Martin is about to try his hand at EDM with the first project set to hit the market just before the summer.
Martin, the 2005 Digicel Rising Star winner, has enjoyed local and international success over the past decade with a catalogue of hits ranging from Take My Wings to his current hitBig Deal.
Now however, he said he wants to try something a little different, and plans are already underway to produce an EDM version of Big Deal. “I am stepping out of what you would call my comfort zone. I have been to so many places in the world and EDM is such an infectious kind of vibe right now, and I feel like I can venture into anything,” he said. “It’s something I want to try, and first and foremost we are going to try and remix Big Deal in such a fashion. Big Deal has that has that motivational kind of get- yourself-amped-up (song), it sits well with an EDM vibe.”
Martin’s label, VP Records, and his management team, have already approached several EDM producers in Australia, Germany, other European countries and the US, and they have had several favourable responses. “It’s just about which one sounds more pleasing to the ear; well, all of them sound good to me, so it’s a nice vibe,” he said.
He said if all goes well, they want to release the Big Deal EDM single perhaps a month or two before the summer. “We want to do it a little time before so that it gels right into the summer but, at the end of the day, even if I feel like it is time now, my team might not feel it is the right time. But all of us will have to be comfortable with it because if we venture into this market, we want to do it the right way.”
