D'Angel shoots 'Stronger' video

Dancehall artiste Michelle ‘D’Angel’ Downer is getting ready to awe music lovers with her latest video for her ‘Stronger’ single.

The song is a testament to all the struggles she has faced, as an artiste and as a person, and how she has risen above it all to become a stronger woman.

“I wanted to do this video to showcase me, D’Angel. I’ve never done a song or video of this nature. I had to do it. It’s a reflection of my life, so it was a no-brainer for me. Just by listening to the song, and when you see the video, you will understand and receive my message,” D’Angel said.

Bring me to life

The video, which was shot by Ras Tingle, who has done many local videos such as Beenie Man’s Mama Cry and Tessanne Chin’s Messenger, conceptualised the video and brought the song to life, with many symbolic references to D’Angel’s life.

With scenes all over Kingston – downtown, Mountain Spring and Norman Manley Boulevard – the video shows a woman getting rid of her emotional past and emerging into a new beginning.

What is most impressive about the video is an intense underwater scene. The very symbolic scene shows the final transformation of Michelle Downer as a fighter, a mother, and a true, strong woman, as she rises out of the water and emerges as D’Angel. Even young Marco Dean makes a cameo appearance in the video.
