D'Angelic party

D' Angel

It was a lavish affair at Top of the World last Tuesday night when dancehall artiste Michelle Downer, more popularly known as D’Angel held her birth-night party at the Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

There was a black carpet leading through the centre of the venue which overlooked the Corporate Area. And, as guests, all clad in formal wear, met and greeted each other, they viewed some of D’Angel’s music videos on a big screen set up towards the back of the venue. Others found the party vibes while moving to dancehall songs like Matterhorn’s Goodas Fi Dem, Aidonia’s Ukku and Beenie Man’s King of the Dancehall.

Birthday girl D’Angel, who arrived in fine style in a limousine some minutes after midnight, was clad in a beautiful, long, gold dress, complete with a tall split up the side. She was officially wished a Happy Birthday by Singing Melody at 12:30 a.m.

A pleased D’Angel then said “thank you all for coming out,” as she took comfort in knowing, “I have always had a supportive family and Marco-Dean has always been my strength and inspiration.”

And after a few toasts from friends and well-wishers, including her mother who got emotional, expressing how much she loved her daughter, it was time to Drink To The Hard-working People.

Speaking during a brief break in-between camera flashes, television interviews and just general spotlight, D’Angel told THE STAR how great she felt on her special night.

“Oh my God, words cannot explain. I feel really, really blessed to live to see another year,” D’Angel said.

Adding it was now all about “mingling and enjoying the rest of the night,” before she was whisked away by more friends and well-wishers.

Among those artistes and entertainers who turned out to wish D’Angel a happy birthday were Voicemail, Delly Ranx, Christopher Martin, Vybz Kartel, Macka Diamond, Tony Matterhorn and Shelly Belly.

Later on in the night (now early morning), dancer Shelly Belly took the stage and thrilled guests with his dancing, and cheers erupted for his ‘Luggo Luggo’ and ‘Swinging Chain’ moves.

D’Angel then took to the runway and strutted her stuff before later taking the dance floor to follow a series of dance moves being done by Dance Xpressions.

At the end of the night, D’Angel, after seeing to it that her guests had a full night of fun, left the venue in search of having more fun, as she said she was going to her after party at the Asylum Nightclub in New Kingston.
