Denyque is closing 2011 on a high note. That’s the word from the fast-rising singer’s camp. Nicknamed ‘Supergirl’, Denyque has a busy Christmas season of appearances and performances, in addition to releasing lots of new material.
“I’ve been in studio a lot and making a lot of great music and working with some great producers like Cashflow Records and Stephen McGreggor,” the singer said, continuing that her single with Cashflow was just released.
Recorded on the Faithful Riddim, Denyque steps away from the usual dancehall/pop vibe of her music and gets steeped in an emotional reggae-flavoured track called Love Hurts.
The song speaks to the hardships of love, and Denyque says that heads are already knocking to produce a video for the song.
“I love working with Cashflow, and we’re looking at doing a video. We have amazing chemistry in and out of the studio and I admire the work ethic these guys have,” Denyque said about the recording outfit.
That’s not the only studio surprise she has though. Having teamed up with Chino from the Big Ship camp earlier this year for the song Driving Me Insane, Denyque found herself in the Big Ship studio again — this time recording for Stephen ‘Di Genius’ Mcgregor.
“The final touches to that song are being dealt with as we speak, and I’m really excited about it. It’s called Make Me Believe You and this will be the first single I’ve recorded for the Big Ship Label, so you know it’s going to be good!
The song, which even sees Denyque deejaying some lyrics, is set to be released in early 2011, along with her first mix tape, I AM SUPERGIRL.
2010 was a big year for Denyque, having been signed as a brand ambassador for telecommunications giant LIME, copping awards for Best New Artiste, making her debuts on the Reggae Sumfest stage, and stages in New York and Africa. As the year ends, Denyque has performances lined up across Jamaica and looks forward to ringing in the New Year with hard work.
