Jamaica can finally stop speculating. The eighth season of Digicel Rising Stars is scheduled to be launched this evening on TVJ with what the organisers say will be “many exciting and surprising changes”.
“Tonight we will introduce Jamaica to an all-new Digicel Rising Stars with exciting changes,” a news release from Digicel quotes producer Sharon Schroeter as saying. “Just as with everything (else), we must constantly evolve, and Digicel Rising Stars is, as usual, setting trends.”
Over the last seven years, the successful talent show has seen many stars emerge from its stage such as Christopher Martin, Laden, Noddy Virtue, Romain Virgo, and Jodiann Pantry to name a few.
“We are privileged to have had seven successful years, which many may have thought could not be done,” said Schroeter. “We have worked with the best in the business to be able to bring Jamaica its first live singing competition where the public decides the winner. We have showcased true, raw talent across the island and assisted aspiring artistes to recognise their dreams and full potential for stardom; and we are committed to continuing this.”
Digicel’s Schroeter said that a 30-minute special starting at 6:30 pm will launch the new Rising Stars season.
