Eve coming to have fun at EME

The rapper is more than looking forward to the experience of performing with an artiste she has a lot of respect for and once again thrilling the Jamaican audience.

In response to an email query from Splash she stated that she was mainly there to support Jamaican dancehall deejay Lady Saw, but “I’m def gonna have fun with it. Hopefully the crowd will too,” she shared.

It is no secret that Eve has a great affinity to reggae music. In 2007 Sean Paul was featured on a single with her, entitled Give It To You. She was also a hit when she performed in Jamaica some years ago, plus, there’s talk of a possible collaboration with ‘foundation’ Reggae singer Toots Hibbert.

According to Eve, “Everybody who knows me knows I’ve always loved Reggae and dancehall. I’m a fan of a bunch of artistes. But I’ve always been a fan of Lady Saw because I feel like she represents strong, fly, independent women. And that’s what I’ve always been about,” commented Eve about the deejay she will be sharing the stage with tomorrow night.

But Lady Saw is not the only artiste she has a lot of respect for. According to Eve, “I like everyone from Buju to Jah Cure to Mavado to Gyptian to Damian Marley, and the list goes on. I think all of those artistes represent Jamaica in their own way, but they do it perfectly.”

A Grammy Award winner who has also starred in blockbuster films such as Triple X and Barber Shop, she has achieved an elite status as a fashion icon, and the blonde bombshell is a triple threat entertainer in the truest sense of the term.

Eve is presently working on her album entitled Lip Lock. She assures that fans can “soon see me on TV or in movies again”, but her main priority remains completing the album.

When Eve lands in Jamaica, the EME event won’t be the only thing she will be looking forward to as she is also anticipating the many scrumptious dishes available here.

When asked to state her favourite Jamaican dish, Eve was at a lost for words. “Wow! Too many good things to eat in Jamaica to just choose one! Escoveitch fish, stewed peas, festival, ackee and saltfish,” states the parodie.

According to Eve, her favourite place to hang out when she comes to Kingston is “Hellshire beach,” and its not just for the sea and sun but, you guessed it, food was on her mind — “to get some fresh fish and lobster and festival”.

With her visit so short this time around, she isn’t sure she will be able to fit in a visit to the beach.
