Funeral service for O'Neil Edwards Saturday

Voicemail member, O’Neil Edwards, will be laid to rest on Saturday.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am at the Church on the Rock, Clifton Avenue, Kingston 8 and the body will be interred at Meadowrest.

O’Neil, a much-loved figure in entertainment circles, did last week Wednesday at the Kingston Public Hospital, after being admitted there following a shooting incident in which he was attacked at his gate on the morning of May 10.

Described as gregarious and fun-loving, O’Neil piloted the trio known as Voicemail to success locally and internationally, especially in Japan, where the group is very popular.

As their bio states, “Like any group, the three have their distinctly different dynamics. Craig is the mushy one, who is always cuddly, loveable and laid-back. However at the same time, he’s the one that they all agree is most miserable and meticulous when it comes to recording. Anything less than perfection is simply not an option! Kevin, a former model is surprisingly the quietest and most unassuming member of the group. He describes himself without airs, for the most part, I’m just a happy go lucky person always bouncy and ready for anything. Once you get to O’Neil, the baritone voice of the group, its clear he is the leader, the organiser and the unspoken boss. Always an entrepreneur, Oneil had his own business importing and selling goods prior to joining the group. Kevin even shares “He’s the man that while we sleep, he’s there pon the phone calling this person and that person, setting us up to record and all those things. He’s the man in charge.”

Interestingly, Internet website, Wikipedia, describes Voicemail thus: Voice Mail (also known as Voicemail or VoiceMail) is a popular dancehall reggaefusion duo hailing from Kingston, Jamaica.
