The long-running retro party Heineken Good Times, is scheduled to make its third appearance in the second city on Saturday April 2 at Pier One.
According to Jerome Hamilton, executive member of The Quorum, Good Times will be held in that venue’s interior to secure an intimate feel.
This is the second Good Times event of the year, the first was held this month at the Chinese Benevolent Association in Kingston. It was first held in Montego Bay in 2000 at Pier One and returned four years later at The Brewery.
Hamilton said the decision to make it MoBay again stemmed from overwhelming fan demand. “We’re looking to expand our base and Montego Bay is just one of the locations we will be playing. We will also be going to New York in April,” Hamilton disclosed.
Heineken Good Times made its debut in the Big Apple last year at the Mingles Club in the Bronx and drew enthusiastic audience response, strong enough for promoters in the New York borough to request a follow-up.
First staged in 1996, Heineken Good Times has become arguably the most popular party event on the Jamaican entertainment calendar. Its playlist, largely built around music from the 1970s and 1980s, consistently draws large audiences wherever it plays. In addition to Kingston, Montego Bay and New York, Heineken Good Times has been hosted in Ocho Rios, Mandeville and Negril, as well as Miami and the Spice Isle of Grenada.
