Ja Rule Details What Made Him “Turn Sour” on Religion

Ja Rule opens up about being raised in a Jehovah’s Witness household, which he admitted was hard, because the religion doesn’t allow adherents to celebrate holidays or birthdays. The New York rapper says that his religion made him feel ostracized as a child because he didn’t get gifts on his birthday or Christmas like other children.

Things changed after he started living with his mother, who was excommunicated from the Jehovah’s Witness church, and he started practicing the Muslim religion. During the same time, Ja got into Christianity after staying at a friend’s house frequently, and the experience helped him become more well-rounded on religion.

The “Clap Back” rapper sums up his religious experiences by explaining how he believes they all tell the same story, but the man-made rules change things up. He wraps things up by remarking that he’s always had God in his heart, despite what religion he’s practicing.
