Jah Cure joins Digicel to light up New Kingston

MOBILE and broadband providers, Digicel is continuing to spread the joy and festivity of the season around the island.

This time the stop is in the business district of New Kingston. For the second year, Digicel will be sponsoring the popular Tree Lighting Ceremony and Grand Market to be held tomorrow on Knutsford Boulevard beginning at 10:00 am.

jah cureWith over 10 years of existence, the tree-lighting ceremony has been a staple for the New Kingston business district and the New Kingston Civic Association is proud of this year’s offerings as it proves to be bigger and even better with the activities that have been planned.

There will be a Christmas gift village including over forty-five booths with vendors showcasing their many different wares. In addition to their sponsorship, Digicel will be treating over 30 children from the Walker’s Place of Safety, a children’s home located in the corporate area. The children will be transported to the venue with a special greeting by Santa and his elves, will be given Christmas gifts and get a chance to watch the entire show from a specially designated area.

“Digicel is happy to be partnering with the New Kingston Civic Association for the second year as we light up the New Kingston strip. With all the talk about Digicel moving downtown, we are still operating from our head offices in New Kingston and also have a few dealer stores in the vicinity and so, as corporate citizens it is only fitting that we would opt to be on aboard for yet a second time to sponsor this event,” commented Donovan White, head of marketing at Digicel Jamaica.

He added, “we encourage Jamaicans to come out from in the day to get an early opportunity to get some of their Christmas shopping out of the way Grand Market style and we are happy to announce that Jah Cure has been added to the artiste line-up and we expect the concert to be electrifying.”

This year’s tree-lighting ceremony and Grand Market is expected to exciting and the night will culminate with a stage show featuring other artistes, Lovindeer, Dalton Harris, The University Singers, The Jamaica Military Band and others.

“We are happy to have Digicel on board as sponsors for the second time, we look forward to an enjoyable day and evening with the grand market, tree lighting and ‘loaded’ concert and we also look forward to everyone coming out and enjoying themselves as this is truly a beautiful to start to the Christmas season”, said Dayton Wood, General Manager at the New Kingston Civic Association.

Digicel will be lighting up Jamaica with a series of Tree Lighting Ceremonies and Christmas treats, the New Kingston Tree Lighting Ceremony and Grand Market is the third such sponsored event for the telecoms company, with plans to have an additional nine in the Caribbean’s largest city-Portmore and also in Montego Bay. This Sunday, December 12, the annual Portmore Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at the Edgewater Roundabout and will feature the likes of veteran reggae artistes Freddie McGregor, Digicel’s brand ambassador I-Octane, violinist Jessica Yap and many more.
