The Chris Brown/Rihanna incident has been the talk of the week, and a few rappers who know the couple are weighing in on the situation — Kanye West and Jay-Z.
West spoke with KIIS FM’s Ryan Seacreast earlier this week, and said he was shocked upon hearing the news.
“I don’t want to speak too much on it, but I was completely devastated by the concept of what I heard,” the superstar rapper/producer said on the air. “[Rihanna] has the potential to be, you know, the greatest artist of all-time and, in that sense, I feel like [she is] my baby sis. I would do any and everything to help her in any situation.”
While West didn’t say whether or not he’s spoken to Rihanna since the domestic spat with Chris, he simply called the incident “so devastating.”
“I feel like, just as a person, I don’t care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald’s, that should never happen. It should never come to that, to that place,” West said.
Jay-Z, on the other hand, is rumored to be furious. A source sold to the hip-hop mogul recently told Us Weekly that Jay “hit the roof” when he heard about it, and is not very happy.
“Chris is a walking dead man. He messed with the wrong crew,” the source told the magazine.
Brown and Rihanna reportedly got into a physical altercation Sunday (February 8), following a pre-Grammy party just after midnight. They were riding in a rented Lamborghini, when they became involved in a yelling match that escalated. In the end, Brown fled, cops arrived, and Rihanna was left “visible injuries,” a source told New York’s Daily News.
Brown later turned himself to police, was charged with making criminal threats, and remains under investigation for a felony domestic violence charge. Rihanna has been cooperating with investigators against Brown in the case, according to reports.
