Keida, Coming Into her Own

Kingston, Jamaica: After having such a great 2010, musically, new sensation Keida is elated to know that her efforts have not been overlooked. Keida who describes her music as a mixture of Reggae, Dancehall and R&B, first burst on to the dancehall scene in 2009 with tracks like Jamaican Boy and Can’t Get Enough on the Mash Up riddim. She has been well-received by dancehall lovers as she introduced herself as the “artical, laid-back singjay with the down-to-earth, yet eclectic style.”

Keida came even stronger in 2010 with tracks like Bubble Up, 75, We Ready, and Dance floor (Care Not). It was hard not to notice the hard work, the young artiste put in, promoting herself as a mainstay in dancehall.

Leaving the votes to the people, it showed that Keida had won the hearts of many as they voted her the Star People’s Choice Award for Best Female Artiste as well as Best Singjay. “I was extremely ecstatic about my winnings in the Star People’s Choice Awards,” the young artiste said. Keida who burst on to the scene in 2009 continued by saying, “winning Best Female artiste was believable, but to win Best Sinjay was a real shocker as that’s a much wider category.” Keida is humbled by the occasion and says that her fans can expect more quality music and performances this year.

Keida’s first performance this year took place on the red carpet of the Youth View Awards. The performance was a thrilling and vibrant one that the crowd loved as they applauded in approval. “It was a great experience performing on the red carpet of the YVA. The event was very official and one of a kind. One could tell that he organisers went all out and so did the artistes who were there,” Keida said.

For 2011, Keida will be busy making her voice heard and her presence felt even more as she continues to provide quality music for her fans.
