Lil Wayne recently revealed to MTV’s “The Seven” that since he began serving his sentence, he gets more than 100 pieces of fan mail a day. And while he said that he actually waits for the letters to come, he’s now asking fans to stop sending mail.

A message posted to Weezy’s Twitter page on Wednesday (October 6) read: “I can no longer write my fans, as difficult as this maybe to say please stop sending me mail, I luv u and will see you soon.”

While the rapper didn’t mention that he’d been moved to solitary confinement this week, the punishment means he’ll have limited interaction with other Rikers Island inmates and spend up to 23 hours a day in an isolated cell.

During his phone call with “The Seven,” Lil Wayne opened up about how the fan mail has inspired him to stay motivated when it comes to his rhymes. “[The] fans have been more than unbelievable,” the rapper told host Kevin Manno. “When I read those letters, that fan mail, and see what they say about what my music does for them, and how it helped them through situations … to read that, that makes me take my words and my whole outlook on what I’m doing a lot more seriously.”

Estimating that he’s received “a million” letters since beginning his prison stint in March, the Young Money MC said, “I probably get 150 pieces of mail [a day], and I probably read a good 30 each day. I get to keep [the letters], I send ’em home. If I keep ’em in the cell, they say it’s a fire hazard. Honestly, I await the mail every day.”

Lil Wayne is currently scheduled to be released from prison on November 4.
