Kingston, Jamaica: – The Devonshire at Devon House was a picture of excitement and festivity on Wednesday January 19, as Tristar Entertainment launched the inaugural All-Island Carnival, announcing that telecommunications company LIME would be the title sponsor of the event.
Julius Morgan, a director of Tristar, said “tonight we announce our sponsors and in that stead, we also announce the real name of the event. What we are launching tonight everyone is the LIME All-Island Carnival.”
He continued that 10 events that will sweep across the entire Island in one of the largest soca series across the region as they seek to make history in this their first staging. The first fete in the LIME All-Island Carnival series will kick off on Saturday January 29, at the UDC Field in New Kingston. That event will feature the likes of Barbadian and Trinidadian soca stars Lil Rick and Oscar B respectively, sharing the stage with local dancehall favourites Aidonia, Elephant Man and Tanto Blacks.
“The trick however is repeating this formula nine other times,” Morgan smirked, before saying that “Negril, Montego Bay, St Thomas, Portland, St Elizabeth, Kingston, May Pen, Linstead and St Mary will all get a taste of carnival.”
The LIME All-Island Carnival series will welcome Destra, Allison Hinds, Machel Montano, Sherwayne Winchester, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Kes and more throughout the 12 weeks, which end in a blowout jouvert fete in Kingston on April 29.
“It’s going to be a very exciting journey and we’re glad to be on board,” said Stephen Pryce, LIME’s regional project manager.
“From the pulsating Soca rhythms to the vibrant to the colourful costumes, LIME is indeed proud to be a sponsor of this unique event that encompasses the entire island in celebration. Our involvement in All Island Carnival underscores the “E” in LIME and is testimony to our commitment to revolutionizing the delivery of entertainment and the promotion of Jamaica’s rich culture,” he continued.
He also said that LIME is a strong supporter of Caribbean culture, music and other forms of artistic expression and that his company is “eager to support any event which brings Jamaicans together in a positive atmosphere.”
Tickets for the first All-Island Carnival event tickets will be sold at Cuddyz, Xtraz Manor Park, Xtraz Mall Plaza, LG Service Station and Scotchies at a pre-sale cost of $1200 and $3000 for VIP. Persons who purchase tickets at the gate will pay $1500.
