Mavado’s birthday bash titled ‘Lime Real McKoy Birthday Bash’ has been postponed until further notice.
The event was to have taken place this Saturday at the Coruba Beach Club in Portmore but earlier this week word reached THE WEEKEND STAR that a change in venue had to take place.

Speaking with a member of the promotional and planning team for the event, they explained that they could not find a new venue for the birthday party on such short notice hence the postponement.
They said, “it was too short notice and all the venues we wanted were booked out. We were issued a permit from the police (South St Catherine police) for Coruba in October and cause of what happened in previous years we decided not to do promotions till we had the permit in hand. When we got the permit we spent huge money on promotions and then we got a letter from police last week that the permit was revoked. The reason was very ambiguous. To be fair we find it strange since receiving that letter events have been kept at that venue.
They added, “A lot of people are disappointed, a lot of people were looking forward to the show. Mavado apologises, it was beyond his control but we still wanna thank the sponsors, Lime, Jagra, Appleton who stood by us for this event. And they will be part of the rescheduled event.”

Mavado rang in his 30th birthday since week and had planned a unity themed party which included performances from the likes of Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Aidonia, Sizzla, I-Octane among others.
The artiste has been hosting his birthday bash for the last six years having held it at various venues such as his community Cassava Piece; Portmore, the Temple Hall Estate, The Building in New Kingston as well as the Caribbean Show Place in Montego Bay, last year. This is not the first time the singjay has experienced troubles in hosting his birthday party. When the event was hosted at Temple Hall there was a police raid and more recently, last year, he had problems getting a police permit for the event.
