October 27, 2011 – Kingston, Jamaica – Telecommunications giant, LIME, has extended a helping hand in support of musical great Bob Andy. The company recently joined the Friends of Bob Andy Song Foundation and the RJR Communications Group in their efforts to raise funds for the Reggae/Rocksteady pioneer, who earlier this year fell ill and is now being treated.
The fundraiser dubbed ‘Bob Andy Unplugged’ will see a variety of great Jamaican musical influencers paying tribute to the ‘I’ve Got to Go Back Home’ and ‘Too Experienced’ singer on October 28th at Jamaica College’s Karl Hendrickson Auditorium. Patrons are being promised a grand spectacle with friends and well-wishers from the musical fraternity, some across multiple genres, who will perform the best of Bob Andy’s works.
Extending its entertainment arm in support of the charitable event, LIME will also offer subscribers to LIME Mobile TV, the opportunity to view the concert in live on Peppa – which airs on Channel 1.
Garfield Sinclair, LIME Managing Director, has committed to the event, hailing Bob Andy as a staple in Jamaica’s entertainment circle who epitomizes our country’s proud heritage of reggae music and musicians.
“Bob Andy has touched so many persons across the globe with his music and has made such an impact on Jamaica. LIME is truly thrilled to partner with the Bob Andy Foundation and to offer assistance to Bob on his road to recovery,” Mr. Sinclair said.
LIME customers with mobile TV phones can access Peppa for as low as $250 a week, a cover charge which provides 200 calling minutes on the LIME network as well as free TV access.
Since the December 2010 launch of LIME Mobile TV, numerous hot ticket entertainment events such as Rebel Salute and the launch of Shaggy’s Sugar Cane have been broadcast via the service.
