Meek Mill & Pusha T Cameo On DJ Drama’s ‘Boyz In The Hood’

While promoting the upcoming project Quality Street Music 2, DJ Drama has tapped the talents of Pusha T, Ty Dolla $ign and Meek Mill for the brand new song, “Boyz In the Hood.” Unfortunately, the new cut will not appear on the forthcoming project due to legal issues which surrounded Meek Mill during the time of its development. Thankfully, though, you can listen to the collaboration below

The track opens up on a humbling admission. “Sorry if I was too arrogant/the money was staggering,” it starts before dipping into a recollection of spending 23 hours in a prison cell. The hook is a hands-up, call-to-power that looks up for inspiration in a time when “the devil is trying to take my soul.” The whole thing is an emotionally pungent track that feels like it calls on the harsh realities of our country’s recent events and looks for solace from a divine source. That message is made all the more clear when a choir chimes in towards the end and makes the song even more stunning before everything ends on one important note: “Circumstance don’t define you. Your choices do.”

Quality Street Music 2 will officially release on July 22.
