‘Retired’ dancehall artiste Mr Vegas yesterday, launched two videos for his latest singles, Gallis and Sassa Step, while celebrating his birthday party, at Stone Love Headquarters, on Burlington Avenue, St Andrew.
The videos, which were directed by well-known videographer Jay Will, were premiered in front of the singer’s fans, friends and celebrity guests, on a big screen and got a warm welcome.
Speaking about the prospects of the video, Mr Vegas said the aim was to show a brighter side of the Jamaican dancing culture, while hoping that the public would find it interesting.
talented youths
“It’s a dancing tune. I just wanted to highlight the talented youths (who dance) in Jamaica because they haven’t got much opportunity, plus Christmas is coming up and people want to have fun,” he told THE STAR.
Vegas added that the concept was from Jay Will, and remained optimistic of what success the video would receive. “The whole thing was Jay’s idea. I just knew I wanted something like this, which is to be very creative. We do quality music everytime with the hope that the people will like it. I’m not going to put much into it, let’s see what the people think,” he said.
The video, which was a very ‘catchy’ one, features several popular dancers, including the Jamaican Michael Jackson, M.O.B., Mystic, TNT Squad, Shady Squad among others, and director Jay Will, who spoke over the microphone said, “It was a collaborative effort between Vegas and myself and I just want you (fans) to go out and give support to the video.”
The Magnum Girls also kept the party alive, teasing the men with their electrifying body moves, which perfectly matched the beats of Aidonia’s 100 Stab and Vybz Kartel’s Bicycle.
