Negril cops charge Mavado

Ace deejay David ‘Mavado’ Brooks is to appear in the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court in Westmoreland following an incident at the Jungle nightclub in Negril yesterday morning.

The deejay was served with several summonses charging him with, among other things, assault occasioning bodily harm and using indecent language.

Police tell THE STAR that about 4:25 a.m., the deejay and a man got into a disagreement at the nightclub located on the popular Norman Manley Boulevard. During the dispute, the police say a man was assaulted in full view of police personnel at the scene.

Mavado was reportedly accosted by the police who attempted to reprimand the deejay and speak to him, but he reportedly cursed them using indecent language.

Police say because of the situation, they thought it wise not to take the deejay into custody at the time. However, later that day summonses were prepared and served on him for him to attend court next week.

Mavado was among several entertainers attending the Appleton Temptation Isle (ATI) and Red Stripe Temptation Isle (RTI) parties, held on the weekend.
