Kingston, Jamaica-May 11, 2010 – HOT 102 FM’s Reasoning is spreading hope and opportunity to our youths by inviting companies to participate in its ambitious Hot Summer Job campaign to help youths ages 18-25 find summer jobs. The campaign that will be running from May through to August; will have willing companies hiring young individuals in exchange for advertising benefits.
According to the host of Hot 102s Reasoning Devon Hunter, this Hot Summer Job campaign was conceptualized to use both the power of media and the power of change to create hope and opportunity for the youths of Jamaica. He went on to say that Reasoning wants to place a minimum of three young persons in a summer job each week during the months of May and June. This venture will be facilitated through companies that agree to barter advertising entitlements in exchange for hiring and paying the young interns. For instance, for every $5,000 an intern is paid the company will receive five times the commensurate advertising value during Reasoning between the hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm Mondays-Fridays. In addition, the participating companies will receive further promotional benefits in relation to the campaign.
The selection process for each week of the Hot Summer Job campaign will involve the candidates being presented with a social issue and asked to comment on it and to propose at least one solution in 250-500 words. The top ten candidates will advance onto the interview phase to be conducted by a panel consisting of the host of Reasoning, a Human Resource professional and a senior station officer. The pool will then be reduced to five, whose resumes will then be forwarded to the participating companies.
Station Manager for Hot 102 FM, Mr. Andrew Jarrett said, This idea is as revolutionary as the concept of Reasoning itself. He went on to say it is our hope that we can make a difference within the lives of these young people as we strive to make a positive impact on society through our programme Reasoning.
